Past Continuous Tense: The past continuous tense is used to denote an action going on at the same time in the past.

Past continuous = use of (was / were) + V1 + ing
Past Continuous Tense

First Person
I was eating mango last night
We were eating mango last night
Second Person
You were eating mango last night
You were eating mango last night
Third Person
He was eating mango last night
They were eating mango last night
She was eating mango last night
It was eating mango last night

Formula: 

Positive: Subject + was / were + V1 + ing + object
Negative: Subject + was / were + not + V1 + ing + object
Interrogative: was / were + subject + V1 + ing + object
Nag. Int.: was / were + not + subject + V1 + ing + object

Example:
  1. I was dancing with kajol.
  2. You were singing loudly.
Example: 

मैं पेन ढूँढ रही थी ।
Positive: I was searching a pen.
Negative: I wasn’t searching a pen.
Interrogative: was I searching a pen?
Neg. Int.: wasn’t I searching a pen?

मेरे पिताजी नोकरी से निवृत हो रहे थे ।
Positive: My father was retiring from the job.
Negative: My father wasn’t retiring from the job.
Interrogative: was my father retiring from the job?
Neg. Int.: wasn’t my father retiring from the job?

में आपका खत् पढ़ रहा था ।
Positive: I was reading your letter.
Negative: I wasn’t reading your letter.
Interrogative: was I reading your letter?
Neg. Int.: wasn’t I reading your letter?
